Thanks to our four cyclists for taking part in Ride London on 4 August. Our team consisted of Anne Fairpo, Tony Almeida, Jack Gilliland and Amrit Bachu.
Together they rode 400 miles to raise funds for FRU. Over £650 has already been raised from the event.

Four intrepid riders will each be cycling 100 miles on Sunday 4th August to raise money for FRU.
The four: Amrit Bachu, Anne Frizzel, Jack Gilliland and Tony Almeida are taking part in Ride London, a 100 mile cycle ride across London and Surrey.
FRU Chief Executive David Abbott said:
“FRU receives no state funding and we need to raise around £500k each year. We can only maintain our service through the hard work of people like Amrit, Anne, Jack and Tony who give up their time and effort to fundraise for us. Thanks to all four of them, please sponsor them to make their exertions really worthwhile”.

FRU volunteer and barrister Gemma Daly recently talked to Joshua Rosenberg about representing FRU clients in social security tribunals. Gemma talked about the issues of poor DWP decision making and about the impact of having professional representation. The piece on Radio 4’s Law in Action series covered the role of these tribunals and what it is like to be an appellant.

We are very sad to be saying goodbye to our fantastic administrator/receptionist Ayesha Tarannum. Ayesha is heading off to become a teacher.
We would like to thank Ayesha for her hard work and dedication, which was demonstrated by the fact that she got us a leaving present by raising nearly £400 through JustGiving.

We are very pleased to welcome two new members of staff this week. Nneoma Atumonyogo joins us as our Administrator/receptionist. Nneoma has wide experience in the office administration and legal sectors. Laura Regueiro Romero also joins us as our assistant legal officer for social security. Laura has just completed her LLB and has wide pro bono legal experience including representing clients in social security tribunals. Laura’s post has been funded by the Inns of Court & Bar Educational Trust, the London Legal Support Trust and the Persula Foundation. Our grateful thanks goes to those organisations.
