Secret Barrister launches FRU Crowd Funding campaign

In a highly exiting development the best-selling author the Secret Barrister has announced their appointment as a patron of FRU. In their announcement the Secret Barrister launched FRU’s latest fund-raising initiative – a crowd funding campaign through crowd justice.

The Secret Barrister is a junior barrister specialising in criminal law and their blog became an internet hit. In 2016 and 2017, the SB was named ‘Independent Blogger of the Year’ at the Editorial Intelligence Comment Awards. In 2018 the Secret Barrister published their first book, “Stories of The Law and How It’s Broken”, and spent 24 weeks in the Sunday Times Top 10 Bestsellers list. The book was distributed free to all Members of Parliament to demonstrate current issues with the criminal justice system.

FRU Chief Executive David Abbott said “we are honoured that the Secret Barrister has agreed to join our illustrious list of Patrons. Whilst it is highly unusual to appoint an anonymous Patron the SB’s passion for the justice system and for FRU’s work is clear. We are sure that the Secret Barrister’s high profile will help us to communicate our aims and successes more widely.”

FRU has launched its crowd funding campaign to raise much needed funds to support our work. The campaign focusses on our work representing disabled people in social security tribunals. FRU needs to raise a minimum of £3000 from the campaign. Pledges can be made at this address: https://www.crowdjustice.com/case/securing-essential-income-for-disabled-people/
